The most interesting question about my work is “Why screen printing?”. It is a technique that has a very strong craftsmanship component, the end result is linked to the process followed in the studio, which has an important manual part. Before this phase, however, there is the gestation of the image, which in turn passes through two different moments. The photographic shot and its reworking on the computer. All my work in its making therefore resembles a complex reflection on time, tripartite in three different moments. There is time as it unfolds, when I am in the studio. There’s memory dimension, when I go back and look at my images on the computer. And there is the instant, when I shoot. Each of these three moments, different in intensity, duration, attitude, corresponds to a different kind of emotion. Some will focus on the subjects: the sea, the time of escape, nature, the relationship between the human figure and the landscape. To some extent these are my themes. But the transversal theme, the one I feel is most mine, is time and its displacements, its edges, its dilations and compressions. I am my time. My time is my work. And my work is me.
La domanda più interessante in merito al mio lavoro è “Perché la serigrafia?” . È una tecnica che ha una componente artigianale molto forte, il risultato finale è legato al processo seguito in studio, che ha una parte di manualità importante. Prima di questa fase c’è però la gestazione dell’immagine, che passa a sua volta per due momenti diversi. Lo scatto fotografico e la sua rielaborazione al computer. Tutto il mio lavoro nel suo farsi somiglia dunque a una complessa riflessione sul tempo, tripartita in tre diversi momenti. C’è il tempo nel suo svolgersi, quando sono in studio. C’è la memoria, quando torno a guardare al computer le mie immagini. E c’è l’istante, quando scatto. Ognuno di questi tre momenti, diversi per intensità, durata, attitudine, corrisponde a un tipo diverso di emozione. Qualcuno si concentrerà sui soggetti: il mare, il tempo dell’evasione, la natura, il rapporto tra la figura umana e il paesaggio. In qualche misura sono i miei temi. Ma il tema trasversale, quello che sento più mio, è il tempo e le sue sfasature, i suoi bordi, le sue dilatazioni e compressioni. Io sono il mio tempo. Il mio tempo è la mia opera. E la mia opera è me.
